Are the New Orleans Saints out of playoff contention in the 2022-23 NFL season?

The New Orleans Saints entered the 2022-23 NFL season with plenty of optimism and hope as Jameis Winston was set to lead the team. However, the quarterback has only managed to play in only three games this campaign due to a back injury. Winston wasn’t exactly performing at a top level as he managed only 858 passing yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions for as long as he was used.

He was then replaced by Andy Dalton as the team’s starting QB but Dalton has had his share of struggles as well despite putting on a decent show for the majority of the season. Dalton has 2252 passing yards with 15 touchdowns in his 10 games for the Saints and he has had a quarterback rating of 96.17 this term.

Do the New Orleans Saints have a chance of making the playoffs?

Nonetheless, NFL fans now want to know whether the Saints have been eliminated from reaching the playoffs this season. As things stand, New Orleans has just a 1% chance of making it to the postseason. The Saints are at the bottom of the NFC South standings with just four wins and nine defeats already.  Their most recent defeat came against Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14. Their ambition of reaching the postseason is simply hanging on by a thread.

However, they can still look to make a push as their NFC South group has been far from competitive in comparison to the rest of the league. The Bucs are currently leading that zone with only six wins and six defeats so far.

Dennis Allen’s side will need to win all of their remaining regular season games to even stand a chance of making it into the playoffs. They will finish off their season by playing against the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers.
